National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) was established by the Government of India in 1963 with the assistance of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the International Labor Organization (ILO) to create skilled professionals.

1. Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) – 1971

  • Marketing, SCM, Operations, Finance, Systems or Human Resources.

2. Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM)

  • Has been modeled along the lines of the General Management Program at the MIT Sloan School of Management

3. The Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Management (PGDISEM)

  • Teaches students the practices of businesses from the points of view of operations management and process technologies, finance, economics and human resource management.

4. The Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Management (PGDITM)

  • Course aims to develop knowledgeable and skilled IT professionals who can formulate IT strategies and design, develop and implement IT.

All the above courses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

Q. Why NITIE ?

NITIE is a very renowned institute and has been known for its outstanding work in industrial Engineering. PGDIE is again a unique management program, that deals with the application of technology in industry. NITIE also has strong base of Alumnus, who are established in their respective industries all over the world. The events like lakshya and empresario helps to develop my entrepreneur skills.

Q. What is IE ?

Industrial engineering is a versatile and diverse discipline concerned with the design,analysis, and optimization of systems at both the process and enterprise level. But even that broad-based statement doesn’t do justice to the range of problem-solving skills that an industrial engineering education will provide. It’s a way of thinking,examining, and analyzing. It’s a way of finding the best solution to a situation.

Q. How do you think IE is related to your branch ?

Q. Why not MBA, why IE?

While MBA focuses more on theoretical aspects of management and is more exam-oriented, PGDIE has a focus on building soft skills and is industry-oriented.Course structure at NITIE has also evolved according to industry standards and change in business environment. Also a PGDIE gives you an industry exposure.It paves the path for a strong corporate career.

Q. Why GATE, why not CAT ?

I have done my engineering from Computer Science, and I’m also working in same sector, it was bit easy for me to prepare for the GATE while also remaining full-time in the job.

Q. Why not MTech., why PGDIE?

MTech. courses focus on research and theory where as PGDIE is a management course that deals with application of technology in Industry. The former would be more subject matter specialist.

Q. Why not IIT?

IE is taught via management and application methodology at NITIE and from a research oriented perspective at IITs. Traditionally in IITs stress in on Productivity and Process Improvement Subjects whereas in NITIE you get to learn about Supply Chain Management, Operations Management and Systems & IT. These give you a whole business perspective and not only the technical side of it.

Q. Why not job, why MBA?

IE will provide me skills which help me to understand and improve business.It also provide me systematic approach to streamline and improve the efficiency and productivity of the business world. Having already obtained a technical degree and working in a IT sector ,Industrial engineering will help implement those technical skills effectively and move up in the corporate ladder.

The Course structure at NITIE provides a practical aspect of what really goes within the Industry. PGDIE provides the perfect mix in the curriculum that the dynamic and establishing businesses of the world require today. Q What is the difference between PGDIE & PGDIM courses at NITIE?

PGDIE is the flagship course of NITIE having a unique image in industry and a strong Alumni base since its inception 1971. Core Subjects offered are alike and Elective pool is same. Same faculty teaches both the courses and we have combined placement process. Entrance of PGDIE is through GATE and PGDIM is through CAT.

Fast moving consumer goods are products that are sold quickly and at relatively low cost.Though the absolute profit made on FMCG products is relatively small, they are generally sold in large quantities, and so the cumulative profit on such products can be substantial.
